KEY DATES - TAX RETURNS
The following is general information published by the ATO and is subject to change and/or your specific circumstances. We strongly recommend that you contact our office to confirm the applicable dates that may be relevant to your particular situation.
Individuals and Trusts
The lodgment end dates for individuals and trusts are detailed in the following table:

The payment dates for individual and trust income tax returns is as follows:
Individual and trust tax returns due 15 May:
- Lodged up to and including 12 February – the payment date is 21 March
- Lodged from 13 February to 12 March – the payment date is 21 April
- Lodged from 13 March – the payment date is 5 June
Individual and trust tax returns with a due date other than 15 May:
- If tax return is lodged on or before the due date, payment will be due the later of:
- 21 days after the relevant lodgement due date
- 21 days after the notice of assessment is deemed received (3 days after issue)
If tax return is lodged late – any tax is payable 21 days after the due date for lodgement
If tax return is not lodged and default assessment issued – tax is payable 21 days after lodgement due date

Partnerships
Completion and lodgment of partnership tax returns is required to enable sufficient time for the lodgment of the partners’ tax returns by their lodgment due date. Further information can be found on the ATO website.

The following table details lodgment and payment due dates for 30 June balancing companies and super funds:

Large/medium taxpayers

Lodgement due dates are:
- 31 October – Where one or more prior year returns are outstanding as at 30 June (payment due date for companies and super funds is 1 December)
- 15 January – Taxable large/medium taxpayers in the prior year (company and super fund payment due date is 1 December)
- 28 February – Non-taxable large/medium taxpayers (in the prior year)
- 28 February – New registrant large/medium taxpayers (company and super fund payment if required is due 28 February).

The following outlines the due dates for all activity statements and the extension available if lodged by a tax agent or BAS agent.

Superannuation
Employers must pay super guarantee contributions for each eligible employee at least four times a year. Payments must be made by the quarterly cut-off dates:

PAYG withholding payment summary annual report
The due date for lodgment of the annual report is worked out by:
Determining the class of payees the payer has included in the report
Whether there is registered tax agent or BAS agent involvement in the preparation of the report

Tax return due date | Payers (including PSI entities with tax-agent involvement) & the following apply:
· Have only closely held payees · Meet the compliance test and notify the ATO by 27 September |

Taxable payments annual report
Businesses in the building and construction industry need to report the total payments they make to each contractor for building and construction services each year. These payments need to be reported to the ATO on the Taxable payments annual report. The due dates for lodgment of taxable payments annual report are:
- 21 July – If lodged directly by the tax payer
- 25 August – If lodged by a Tax agent or BAS agent

Fringe Benefits Tax Return
The due dates for lodgment of FBT returns are:
- 25 June – If the return is lodged electronically
- 21 May – If the return is lodged by paper
The statutory due date for lodgment and payment is 21 May.
